Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the virtues of family football scholarship and volunteering for the community. First family, he's the youngest of nine children of Lucious and Jessie Semon who grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. In second football, he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starting line-up for just one year. Lee Roy was named the most effective offensive lineman of the United States by Outland Lombardi, Outland and the Outland Awards. In the three seasons he was the Oklahoma's starting line-up The Sooners finished three-and-a-half and won two championships. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon obtained his degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer every week while in college. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and played in the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and was three-times all-pro. His career in business began. He was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of America's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds in his college days. He captained the 1975 team. He joined University of South Florida in 1993, as associate director of sports. In 1988 He was elected into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was inducted into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 handed out their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
